Bold Actions CIC has joined a noble task to work in partnership with Birmingham City Council’s Public Health and BVSC on a vital smoking cessation initiative. This is a significant step forward in our mission to empower community members with the resources and support they need to make healthy lifestyle choices.

Smoking is a major driver of health inequalities, disproportionately affecting our most marginalised communities. It impacts everything from poverty and employment to household members’ wellbeing and housing. By tackling smoking rates, we are not just improving individual health, but also actively working to create a more equitable society.

“Smoking is the number one preventable cause of disability, ill health, and death in this country. As well as its devastating effects on our health, this important research reveals how smoking also costs our society more than £21 billion each year” 2024, the then Public Health Minister Andrea Leadsom.

At Bold Actions CIC, we are deeply committed to amplifying the voices of those most affected by these inequalities. Our work will be guided by the evidence of frameworks like the Core20PLUS5, which highlights how above-average smoking rates among the most deprived reduce healthy life expectancy and place immense pressure on our NHS.

This new initiative allows us to bring our unique, community-centred approach to a critical public health challenge. By working together, we can create lasting change, reduce health disparities, and build a healthier, stronger Birmingham for everyone.
